Description

History: During the 1800’s, the American bison was hunted so systematically that an estimated 50 million of them were killed over the course of a century, dropping their population to as low as 500 members. However, since becoming a protected species the American bison population has recovered and is believed to be at 150,00 individuals worldwide.
